The course is mainly designed to cover both international and European aspects of regular and irregular migration, integration, readmission and return. During the first five weeks, international aspects of migration shall be discussed including key concepts of migration, its types, legal and irregular migration, international protection, sources of international migration law. The second part of the course shall concentrate on the rights of third country nationals in the EU, depending on their status in the EU member states, i.e. as regular or irregular migrants. As such, rights of Turkish migrants under Ankara Agreement and related decisions of the Association Council, as well as the obligations arising from the readmission agreement between the EU and Turkey, visa liberalisation process and the EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey are covered. Students who successfully pass this course and other courses offered by the Chair are given a Jean-Monnet Certificate by Bilkent University.
