Seminars on Migration and International Protection

Seminars on Migration and International Protection shall include both issues of migration (Terminology and main concepts, history of migration in Türkiye and in the EU, sources of international, European and Turkish Migration Law, power of the EU on migration, the area of freedom, security and justice, regular and irregular migration in Turkish and EU laws, issues of migration in the EU-Türkiye Relations) and international protection (basic concepts of refugee law, relevant international, European and national legal framework on international protection and its implementation in Türkiye with specific emphasis on relevant jurisprudence). Seminars target undergraduate and graduate students of Turkish Universities, thus aim to create an awareness on European subjects for both the students and researchers of Bilkent University and of other universities in Türkiye, to equip the participants with specific knowledge on legal aspects of migration and international protection who have not had the opportunity to deal with these issues before. They are organised for 8 hours, given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülüm Özçelik and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Dicle Ergin, once each (fall) semester.
